 arrival 002

After half a year of procastinating, I finally did what i promosied to my beloved oneS.  Here is my update. It seems quite weird for me to write on sth happened several months ago though. The first pic, as u can see, was taken on my 1st day of arrival. It's all like a dream,  I am finally in London, doing the master which I longed for.   One of my aims this year is to learn to be independent. And the first challenge is ---- carrying all these luggages back to my hall -_-.  Seriously, they weighted as heavy as me. But, i made it. Thanks to numerous anonymous passerby. UK 044 T

he pretty gal next to me is Emily, my lovely sister in Jesus. Visiting her place was one of my most enjoyable time in London. Hospital as always, she cooked for me.  (well, all guys who know Emily would envy  me by then =P) . P1040380

The background of this pic is the renowned Westminster and Big Ben. The nightview of them were gorgeous.P1040358

This one is taken at an Italian restaurant, can't remember its name though. I guess its sth like Stranda or sth. Anyway...  The cost of living in London is unreasonably high, esp for those who is not earning sterling.

The above two pics were taken in Mid-Autumn Festival.  There is a Chinese saying that one will espacially miss ones family members during festivals.  This is the 1st festival I had abroad.  Thanks Gill for organizing the dinner and the "moon-watching" party, I was not as  home-sick as expected. I guess i had abondoned the ritual of playing lantern since high school, but it was fun picking it up again this year. Tell u what, this year's mooncake was particularly delicious =P.

This one was taken at the lounge of my hall. Some bros and siss in my church was organizing a outreach "hall visit" and their first stop was my hall--High Holborn Hall.  Though I struggled a bit in the begining, I now settled in  this church.  The bros and siss there are very passionate in serving God. I am truly amazed.

This was taken in my kitchen when we were having "Ma Tai Go" (waterchestnut dumpling?). They are the friends with whom I most frequently hang out.

Camden and South Keningston 033

I am not sure if I am correct, this one was taken somewhere near Camden Market.  People, pay attension to the sky! Seldom in England will u see a clear sky, not to mention sunshine. The situation is even worst in Winter. Its either foggy or windy. Unbrella now becomes a necessity. The sun has already gone at 4:30 pm.  The whole atmosphere was fairly dull. Having said that, it may not be a bad thing for me, coz it forced me to stay indoor and study =P.

Camden and South Keningston 094  This was taken outside the Royal Albert Hall in October.

For those shopaholic, you must know what that building is.  This is HARRODS.  My friends told me that u will bump into a lot of celebrities there but i got no luck.   A lot of shops are now on sale. Unlike HK, the sale here is really a "sale". Price is deducted to 30% or even lower .  Of course, I did make gd use of this opportunities to shop XD.

.......

Time flies. One sem has already passed. Overall, I love London, the place, the ppl and everything.

........

I thank God for his guidance and comfort all along. Amen.

PS.  I also upload some of my Germany pics to my nearly obsolete ablum. For those who are interested, http://www.imagestation.com/members/tracysauyee is the link. I will upload the pics for Swiss later =P. When I say later, i mean LATER =P.

One last word to my friends in HK, I MISS U ALL =D

Finally, it's over!

Got the grades today. Though not pass with flying colours, the grades are much better than I expected. What makes it a happy ending is not only that I pass, but  the whole group 2 passes all together !

I always remind myself how blessed I am to be in this group. Before the course started, I prayed that I could be allocated to a "suitable" group. Prayer works, and here it is--- a united and harmonious group (as we always proclaim)!

Don't know how many of you have the habits of reading my xanga. I still would like to take this chance to thank all of my groupmates for their kindness and tolerance.

Love you all .

Good value for money?

I've been doing a rough calculation of the likely expense next acd year. The figure keeps rising -_-. The tuition fee itself costs more than $170,000 and it costs about $2000 for staying at a hall in London for only a week (the cost of a 3-star hotel in Hong Kong !!!).

I thank God for the chance to study abroad.

No doubt, studying at the institution to which  I am heading is my desire since my addmission to LLB, but, I sometimes still feel quite uneasy about the "cost" of it. It takes my parents years to earn a million and I will spend almost half of it in ONE year. It's not about whether I can pay them back (I am forever indebted to them anyway) but  being a 23-year-old "dependent" of a family doesn't seem right to me.

If I am an investment project, I am a "long term", "high risk" and "low return" (if not none) one.

One last word, a wholeheated gratitute for my parents unconditional and uncountable support. I am not sure if I am "good value for money" as far as my parents are concerned, but I will try to made next year a "good value for money" experience.

Currently Reading
The Power of a Praying Woman
By Stormie Omartian
see related

Finished "The Broker", again by John Grisham. It's about the presidential pardon of a once powerful US lobbyist.   It's cool, but I like his "lawyers' series" more .

"The power of a praying woman". Thanks Jess for the book.

Time to update.

First of all, thank you all for the prayers

Within two-week-time, the pclll course will be over (hopefully ). Trial advocacy is on going. Since it is basically a "skill" course instead of a "knowledge" one, I don't feel learning anything substantial. Perhaps, I am not passionate enough. Yet,  through the course, I discovered the creativity of my groupmates, their opening and closing speeches are marvellous .

Indeed, I've done quite a lot of things in these few days after the written exams. But, most important of all, I took a good rest. Thank God for that.

Last week, two lovely gals were converted. One is a YWGS gal and one is my lovely groupmate. I feel so happy for them.

God conveyed some messages to me:

  • be well equipped, God may use you anytime
  • what I want may not be what I need
  • have faith in Him even if setbacks are surrounding
